1 ½ lbs ground lamb, beef, or turkey
- 1 small yellow onion
- 1-inch cube ginger
- 4 cloves garlic
- ½ cup frozen green peas
- 1 lemon
- 1 tbs butter
- vegetable oil
- salt
- chopped cilantro for garnish (optional)

Recipe

Peel and finely chop onion. Heat 1 tablespoon oil on medium in frying pan. Add WHOLE SPICES, stir 1 minute, then add onion. Sauté 7 - 10 minutes until lightly browned.

Peel and finely grate ginger and garlic. Add to pan and sauté 1 minute.

Increase heat to medium-high. Add ground meat, 1 teaspoon salt, and MASALA POWDER. Sauté 5 minutes until meat is browned.

Reduce heat to low. Stir in green peas and ¼ cup water. Cover and simmer 5 minutes.

Add salt and lemon juice to taste. Garnish with chopped cilantro, if desired.
Note: Larger whole spices are not meant to be eaten. Remove before serving or instruct diners to avoid/remove while eating.

Variations
to make vegan/vegetarian, substitute:
- non-dairy spread or vegetable oil for butter
- 1 block extra-firm tofu (crumbled and excess water squeezed out) or plant-based ground "meat" for ground meat
- 8 ounces minced mushrooms and 2 cups cubed potato for ground meat; follow recipe as directed but confirm potato is cooked through in Step 4
